Sparta Beef’s X-ray technology

Sparta’s state-of-the-art X-ray equipment ensures the quality and safety of our beef products.

Sparta Beef has stringent health and safety measures in place to ensure the safety and quality of our products.

Once carcasses are deboned into primal cuts (rump, sirloin, silverside, topside, etc.), they are vacuum-packed in special barrier bags and sent through a steam tunnel to ensure a complete vacuum seal has been achieved and that the integrity of the vacuum is intact. A label displaying the production date and best before date is inserted into every bag containing a primal cut.

Our products are vacuum-packed in special barrier bags ensuring an extended shelf life while the cold chain is strictly maintained. Once packaged all our products travel through metal detectors while production beef products are also sent through our state-of-the-art X-ray equipment, which determines the exact meat-to-fat ratio of a product. This process enables us to deliver consistent and accurate fat grades on our production beef, while any foreign objects that went undetected by metal detectors are also identified and removed at this stage. This gives our clients complete peace of mind that our beef is safe and of the highest quality.

Products are then labelled, boxed and stored in our specially built chilling facility. Our inhouse food safety team works around the clock to ensure that chilling temperatures are maintained at optimal levels – which enables us to provide an extended shelf life on our products.
